1. Turn the ignition switch to ON position.

2. Verify that the selector lever is in P position.

3. Depress the brake pedal and verify that the selector lever can be shifted from P position.

If a malfunction is found, inspect the interlock cable. (See INTERLOCK CABLE INSPECTION.)
