Mazda 6 Service Manual: Egr valve removal/installation
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the EGR valve connector.
3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Water Hose Removal Note
- Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT.)
EGR Valve Removal Note
1. Remove the air hose. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)
2. Remove the upper radiator hose. (See RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
Purge solenoid valve inspection
Airflow Inspection
Note
Perform the following test only when directed.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Operation Test
Carry out the EGR Control Inspection. (See EGR Control System
Inspection.
If not as specified, perform the further inspection for the EGR valve.
